Dead Poets Society

Year: 1989
Director: Roger Ebert

One of the many memorable movies in which Robin Williams took part in. By watching it makes you think about your life.

I find this movie as a shock to one's self because the teacher disputes all the silly things that are written with regard to poetry and by doing this he wants to awaken certain attitude in all his students. He wants them to follow their truth self, to seek for what they want and seize their lives, in other words, to write a verse in each one's life. Therefore the movie is a shock, a wake-up call, maybe not only for the students but to anyone who has open eyes or ears to the call.

As to the death we see in the film, I think it is very sad because when the guy looked at his life at the end of it, he realized he had truly lived, but even in that case it still leaves a sad feeling in the viewer, because we can anticipate that he is missing many wonderful things that would take place in his future. That is why I think he should have seen the reality from several points of view. We can see at the end of the movie that these guys hadn't studied the realistic authors and by not doing it they are skipping some parts of live that are real too... You have to see live standing on the top of your desk but you have to see it from the floor too.

All in all, you can see that this teacher achieves his purpose when he plants a seed in the guys for them to live their own lives. This can be seen because at the beginning the students were too tied to schedules, too pressured by their parents expectations and too afraid of the school rules. Is the teacher who comes to free them
so that they cherish the beauty in life. He gets them to have the courage to recognize themselves and live the way they want to, even if their teacher is no longer there.
